Thou Art Near - Verses by John Newton

Congregations endure seasons of particularly sharp suffering where few members are untouched by trials. It seems to be one of those seasons for the body of Christ called Tremont Temple. And so, read these words of comfort about a “peace that the world cannot know.”

As a bird to its sheltering nest,
When the storm rages fierce in the sky,
So my soul flies to Thee for its rest,
Knowing well that my Savior is nigh.

Though the darkness be deep as the night,
And the tempests of life fiercely blow,
In Thy presence is comfort and light,
And a peace that the world cannot know.
